The National MLK Memorial
Dr. King's fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. is in the process of raising funds to build a national memorial to honor Dr. King on the grounds of the Nation's Capitol The memorial will be located on the Tidal Basin. It will be on a four-acre site adjacent to the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial and on a direct line between the Lincoln and the Jefferson memorials. Dr. King will be the first African American and only the second nonpresident to be so honored in Area I.
